Roles & Responsibilities
Job Description
The successful candidate is expected to design, configure, operate and perform maintenance on a Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI). Responsible for defining the overall structure of the hyper-converged infrastructure stack (including the integration with other critical components of the stack), understanding all aspects of each solution components, from both a business and technical point of view.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Design, create, and monitor the implementation of end-to-end Hyper Converged Infrastructure stack comprising HCI, backup, storage, automation and integration with other components (for example orchestration engine & SaaS based ITSM)
• Develop HCI, backup, storage and HCI stack automation technology roadmaps and recommendations in managing future IT needs
• Continuously reviewing best practices and designs. Develop and recommend improvements on architecture and design accordingly
• Perform product evaluation and provide recommendations, considering products’ features, support and overall cost benefit analysis
• Manage technology vendors
• Stay abreast of technology infrastructures. Evaluate emerging technologies to maximize performance, security & efficiency
• Incorporate SIA’s information security practices
• Establish yourself as a Subject Matter Expert in specific technologies, able to address challenging technical problems independently
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 8+ years of experience working with IT systems
• 4+ years of experience working in a Managed-Service environment, a network or systems consultant, or working for a consulting organisation
• Certifications in VMware Certified Professional-DCV & Microsoft Certified Professional are a must
• Design and deployment experience on Hyper Converged Stack (Nutanix/VxRail/Cisco etc.)
• Hands-on experience on VMWare Suite, design, configuration and administration of components in a large VMware environment cantered around best practices, to include vCenter, VMware Update Manager, vCenter Operations Manager, vCenter Orchestrator, vCenter Cloud Automation Centre, vCenter Site Recovery Manager, vSAN.
• Basic understanding of storage products, experience on the configuration & management of Storage Data stores, creation and upgrade of VMFS partitions & Configuring Storage DRS clusters, RDM configuration & Management. Analyze and troubleshoot on advance level, performance of HCI storage backed ESX infrastructure to determine proper allocation of ESX resources
• Expertise in one or more orchestration engine like, vRealize Automation, Ansible, Prism, Terraform, Morpheus
• Basic understanding of file and block storage protocols, including FC, FCoE, iSCSI, NFS, and CIFS
• Experience in VM template design to leverage vCenter Operations Manager to right size virtual servers.
• Experience with server consolidation/virtualization for hardware reduction and site migrations via V2V and P2V.
• Experience in creating, documenting, and testing reference architectures and best practices
• Ability to communicate in a clear and concise professional manner, tailored to the appropriate audience, including both verbal and written communications
• Ability to lead and work collaboratively within a business unit team and have strong influencing skills
• Ability to work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation and may require collaboration across multiple technical teams
